Background

Jayne completed a BA in Fine art at Demontfort University in 2001 and is currently undertaking an MA in Fine Art at Byam Shaw School of Art, St Martins. She has been involved nationally in exhibitions and commissions, which are mostly site specific and in unusual spaces outside the traditional gallery setting.

In 2007 Jayne completed her first permanent public art commission for the River Colne Sculpture Trail, was part of several projects and exhibitions and was chosen to exhibit at Salon 07 at the Seven, Seven gallery, where she had previously had a solo show.

In 2008 she was selected for the Illumini Event and was featured in Time Out and The Telegraph. As a result of this she was commissioned to be part of Illumini Quantum held at 'LightUp', an Olympiad event in celebration of 2012.

Since Illumini Jayne has exhibited at the Williamson Tunnels in Liverpool as part of Edgecentrics, a site specific exhibition curated by Jolanta Jagiello, a freelance curator that she continues to exhibit with. As well as her own art practice Jayne has a background in community arts developing and facilitating projects for Southwark Council, the Joy of Sound and Inspire, a charity in South East London, where she works part-time coordinating their older peoples and intergenerational arts projects.

Statement

Jayne Lloyd is a visual artist working in mixed media sculpture and installation, often exploring where art and the creative process can take place and with a strong interest in working outside the traditional gallery setting. She also has a passion for working with the community on art projects, ranging from young people to people with disabilities, including workshops, carnival projects and exhibitions. Illumini will look forward to working with her again on future projects after she has completed her MA
