Background

spin8 is an evolving art form pushing the boundaries of kinetic art.
Artist Rick Standing explores the multiple possible frequencies by spinning painted discs under two contrasting lighting conditions.
Stemming from club visual entertainment his images reflect the intensity found within electronic music and his on going curious affliction with the workings of the cosmos. Rick has exhibited at many london venues and recently had a solo show in Bristol and was part of the front room art trail in Bristol, where artists used there front rooms as galleries.

Statement

Hire the Spinny music backdrop, a nightclub visual, a party piece or an art installation. The Spinny can be installed at your event, be it a party, art happening or music event. It is best suited to dark conditions where the Ultraviolet light can really pick up the colours tracing and repeating. Strobe lighting is also in use, to illuminate animations on the discs.

The artist, Rick Standing, comes with the package setting up, operational control, disc changing, explanations, talks, interactions, collaborations. He is there also to make sure of the safe operation and use of the Spinny.
Control dials for the Spinny and lights make it possible for the public to interact with the Spinny, creating their own image frequencies. It is like a giant record player on its side, with interchangeable discs. Projections can also be installed to go along side the Spinny, showing archive footage and animated projections.

Safety considerations are specifically customized for each individual event. Control measures are put in place to safeguard the public from rotating parts and strobe overdose.Insurance is covered for UK events only.
